Aiyuk has applied to the NFL for reinstatement and plans to report to the 49ers on Friday, agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed to Front Office Sports on Wednesday. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said at a news conference Wednesday that he believed team officials had 'talked to [Aiyuk's] agent.' Asked for his response to that, Shanahan said: 'None. I have no expectation. I've kinda moved on with that mentally and everything.'

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has applied to the NFL for reinstatement and plans to report to the 49ers on Friday, forcing the team to make a decision on his future by the trade deadline. Aiyuk is currently on the reserve/left squad list and ineligible to play until reinstated. 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said he has 'no expectation' and has 'kind of moved on with that mentally,' indicating the team does not foresee Aiyuk playing again for San Francisco. If released before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, Aiyuk becomes an unrestricted free agent immediately.
