They hid their intentions well during the spring before shocking the NFL by selecting Ty Simpson with the thirteenth overall pick... He looked as ready as you possibly could during the preseason... It's time to reassess whether Simpson should be the third quarterback... I have a hard time believing that Bennett is more capable and dependable than Simpson. It's probably time for the rookie to usurp the veteran within the depth chart.

13th overall pick showed poise in preseason; source argues he should move up from third-string QB.

Drafted 13th overall by the Rams to futureproof the QB position; looked poised under pressure and kept the ball out of harm's way during preseason exhibition games despite consensus that he needed time to develop; currently a healthy scratch on game days as emergency third QB behind Stafford and Bennett, but the source argues it's time to reassess his depth chart placement and suggests Simpson should usurp Bennett as the number two QB, with the most likely outcome being Simpson eventually replacing Bennett as backup once the Rams separate from the veteran.
