Vic Fangio's defense dominated the first 11-on-11 series to the point where Hurts was coverage "sacked" multiple times. Hurts and the offense did look sharper in 7-on-7. Hurts had good completions back-to-back to DeVonta Smith, who beat Quinyon Mitchell each time.

Hurts had uneven day with defensive pressure issues but showed some sharp moments in 7-on-7.
Uneven day in second training camp practice. In 11-on-11, Vic Fangio's defense dominated and Hurts was coverage sacked multiple times; one attempt was batted incomplete by Zack Baun. Looked sharper in 7-on-7 with good back-to-back completions to DeVonta Smith (who beat Quinyon Mitchell twice), a quick slant to Makai Lemon, and a connection to Elijah Moore. Made a nice anticipatory completion to Dallas Goedert on a crossing route but threw wide on a screen. His flashiest completion was a rolling left throw downfield to Dontayvion Wicks for a leaping 50/50 catch. Also underthrew an open DeVonta Smith downfield that could have been a sure touchdown, and appeared to check down on a potential deep touchdown to Wicks along the left sideline.
