ESPN NFL on Matthew Golden
From the article
receiver Matthew Golden made two standout plays. They were perhaps the best catches of training camp so far... coach Matt LaFleur said that while Golden clearly has grown as a receiver, it's the little things like blocking and what you do when you don't have the ball that have impressed him just as much.
STACKED’s take
Golden's camp standouts and all-around effort signal breakout potential in year two.
Second-year WR Matthew Golden has impressed at training camp with standout plays including a leaping outstretched catch deep down the middle and a deep over-the-shoulder catch for what might have been a 58-yard touchdown. Coach Matt LaFleur noted that Golden has grown as a receiver and impressed with the little things like blocking and effort when the ball isn't in his hands. Golden emphasized his approach: "That's what makes a lot of players great. For me, when the ball's not in my hands, you're obviously trying to get somebody else in the end zone. Just being able to block, get open, do everything that a receiver's supposed to do and more, I feel like you add more value and just overall help in the run game."
