Drafted 56th overall by Jacksonville in 2026, Boerkircher is expected to earn a Week 1 role as a complementary tight end alongside Brenton Strange in the Jaguars' multi-tight-end offensive scheme. Head coach Liam Coen is implementing 12 and 13 personnel packages (multiple tight ends) to replace jumbo packages used in 2025, and Boerkircher's primary value will be as a blocker to reduce Strange's workload in pass protection, allowing Strange to split out and face linebackers/safeties rather than edge rushers. Coen stated at OTAs: "we needed some help there" in blocking, and if Boerkircher can hold his own in the trenches early in training camp, it will unlock offensive flexibility.
