Despite trade rumors and the arrivals of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, Boutte reported to training camp and quickly demonstrated his continued rapport with Drake Maye. During 11-on-11 work, Maye hit Boutte on a go route down the left sideline for approximately 40 yards. Maye stated after practice: "It's nothing new. You guys have seen it all year last year, and the year before. He just keeps doing things right. I'm proud of him for getting in there, jumping in there. He understands if he's got something down the sideline, and a ball down the field, that he's got a chance it's coming his way. Great catch." This reinforces Boutte's standing as one of Maye's favorite receivers despite the receiver room additions.
