Simpson signed rookie deal; competing for No. 2 QB spot behind Stafford.

Simpson, the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, signed a four-year rookie contract worth $25.4 million with a $14.94 million signing bonus. He is expected to compete for the No. 2 QB spot with Stetson Bennett and possibly Jimmy Garoppolo. The Rams selected Simpson despite reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford being under center, suggesting they may be grooming Simpson to take over in the future; however, Stafford subsequently agreed to a one-year, $55 million extension through 2027, providing Simpson an extra year to acclimate to the NFL.
