PCL injury swelling suggests Pearsall will miss all of 2026 if surgery required.
Pearsall is out of practice due to swelling in his knee related to a PCL injury suffered during the 2025 season. The 49ers are considering all options to address the injury, including surgery. According to Matt Maiocco of NBCSportsBayArea.com, if Pearsall requires surgery, he will miss the entire 2026 season. The team made a calculated attempt to let the injury heal on its own this offseason, but swelling after a few days of practice suggests the injury did not heal as hoped. Maiocco also notes that further time spent waiting to see if it heals on its own before eventually requiring surgery could impact Pearsall's availability and/or readiness for the 2027 campaign.
