A two-year starter at Maryland, Prather was an outside receiver in offensive coordinator Josh Gattis' pro-style spread scheme. He generated some buzz in NFL scouting circles over the summer, based on his 2023 tapes, although that seemed to cool — there wasn't much of a jump in his 2024 performance. Working outside the numbers, Prather is a tall target who adjusts well to the football and does a nice job working back to help his quarterback. However, he is a non-explosive receiver with straight-line tendencies, lacking suddenness in his breaks and consistency downfield (two catches of 30 yards or more in 2024; none longer than 35 yards).

Brugler's 40th-ranked WR lacks explosiveness, break quickness, and downfield consistency.

Dane Brugler's 2025 pre-draft evaluation ranked Prather as the 40th overall receiver with a free agent grade, noting he is a non-explosive receiver with straight-line tendencies, lacking suddenness in his breaks and consistency downfield (two catches of 30 yards or more in 2024; none longer than 35 yards). While Prather is a tall target who adjusts well to the football and has solid hands and speed, Brugler emphasized the lack of a true distinguishing trait will require him to find a favorable situation to stick in the NFL.
