Anytime David Montgomery's out, Jahmyr Gibbs goes [ __ ] nutty in the fantasy world. His rushing yards go up by 43 yards. He scores almost an extra half a touchdown per game... the Lions will have an incredibly easy schedule.

Ranked #2 overall in 2026 fantasy drafts with no issue taking him over Bijan at #1. Gibbs has scored 18 and 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons and somehow enters 2026 with untapped TD upside on top of those numbers. David Montgomery's departure to Houston opens significant workload; when Montgomery was out last year, Gibbs gained 43 rushing yards per game and scored an extra 0.5 TDs per game (8.5 more PPR points per game). Montgomery had 14 carries inside the 5-yard line (8th most among RBs) vs. Gibbs' 8, creating major TD upside. Isiah Pacheco replaces Montgomery but is not the same caliber player, so Gibbs' split production should expand further. Lions' fourth-place schedule in the NFC North is a major tailwind; as the fourth-place team, they get the fourth-place schedule for 2025, making them potentially the best team ever to have such a favorable slate.
