I saw the uh the big tournament winners like like naked Justin Fields took down the the big tournament... Fields only had a first read attempt on 38% of his throws, which is really low... His average time to throw was 3.53 seconds, which is super long... he was super efficient when he was able to make a first read throw... the dual threat nature for Fields here is actually very exciting... they put Fields in spots to win as a passer uh like with control like you know, they used they they they really kind of just doed up a lot for him. He was ninth in drop backs with pre- snap motion.
STACKED’s take
Dual-threat upside with rushing equity; tournament winner with passing red flags.
Tournament-winning play in Week 1 as a cheap rushing QB; only had first-read attempts on 38% of throws (very low) with 3.53-second average time to throw (super long), suggesting ball-holding and read issues, but was 100% efficient on first-read completions. Dual-threat upside is exciting given Bills' weak run defense and Jets' willingness to lean into his runner strengths; not fragile from game script perspective. Incorporated into passing game with intentional design—Jets used pre-snap motion at ninth-ranked rate in drop backs, putting Fields in spots to win as a passer with control. Identified as one of core three fantasy plays in Bills-Jets matchup; could have really good fantasy game even in lower-scoring scenario (e.g., 23-16).
