Round 2 receiver-first TE; natural fluidity and route-running ability, needs blocking development

Drafted by the Rams in Round 2 as another receiver-first hybrid tight end in the mold of Terrance Ferguson. While not an explosive athlete, Klare has natural fluidity, good arm length, and loose hips. He was a multi-sport prospect in high school (quarterback, tight end, punter, kicker) and a top-tier baseball player. At Purdue, his film shows ability to stretch defenses deep or pressure mid-field areas; Ohio State used him more traditionally but his best work came from the slot. He is a good route runner with varied tree and good feel for open areas in zones, though more of a body catcher with good (not great) hands. He transitions upfield quickly with good moves in space, shows good contact balance and can break tackles. Blocking needs work in terms of play strength and hand placement, though he is willing and agile in space.
