Opposing defenses could shrink the field and focus on McCaffrey underneath without fear of 49ers receivers running past them. The lack of receiver blocking meant McCaffrey 'had to be a magician behind the line of scrimmage,' with next to no margin for error in the running game. The wide receiver upgrades (particularly Mike Evans) should dramatically improve the blocking and open up the running game for McCaffrey in 2026.
