The new Matt Nagy offense is simpler and more intuitive than the previous Brian Daboll/Mike Kafka system, which was notoriously complex for receivers. Slayton noted the new scheme 'doesn't pigeonhole any receiver as the deep threat or the short-field target, or restrict any one receiver to a limited route tree,' allowing 'everybody getting a shot at almost everything.' Slayton's mastery of the previous complex playbook and ability to translate it to others added to his value, and the simplified scheme should benefit his production.
