It is a tough situation to be in if you are KOC because you simply have not gotten enough games on tape to truly get a good idea about JJ's future. I do not think teams can wait any longer on young QBs unless they have a purposeful plan like the Packers with Jordan Love.

McCarthy's future unclear as Vikings prioritize Murray in QB competition.

McCarthy faces significant role uncertainty in the Vikings QB competition. Head coach Kevin O'Connell has not gotten enough game tape to evaluate McCarthy's long-term viability as a starter, and the team cannot wait indefinitely on young QBs without an established veteran in place. McCarthy is competing against Kyler Murray for the starting job, with the team's cap spending strategy (31st in QB group spending at $11.3M) suggesting they want Murray to start.
