Can Jaydon Blue prove he can be the RB2 rather than simply look like the most explosive back? That distinction matters because the padded practices will reveal things that shorts don't: pass protection, contact balance, physicality, ball security, etc.

Blue explosive in shorts; RB2 test begins with padded practices.

Blue is competing for the RB2 spot behind Javonte Williams. He has looked good in shorts through the first three practices and appears to be the most explosive back, but the distinction between looking explosive and being a reliable RB2 matters because padded practices will reveal pass protection, contact balance, physicality, and ball security. The real test of the RB2 race begins Monday with the first padded session. Blue also had a checkdown from Prescott tipped into the arms of safety Malik Hooker for an interception on Saturday.
