Mahomes was cleared in time for Chiefs training camp, just over seven months after tearing his ACL in Week 15 against the Chargers in December. Head coach Andy Reid stated: "He's going a great job, he's really doing everything that he normally does and is doing it well" and "he sure looks sharp out here." Reid indicated Mahomes is progressing through recovery and that Week 1 return is a goal, though the team will let doctors guide the process and prioritize safety. Reid also noted uncertainty about preseason game participation.
