Maye moved from the middle of Tier 3 after his rookie season toward the top of Tier 2 after finishing second in MVP voting for a team that reached the Super Bowl. Five of 21 personnel executives placed him in Tier 1, though none of the 29 coaches did—the largest gap in that direction this year. An exec said: "I see him as a high 2 on his way to a 1. You just have to see it against a harder schedule. And then I think he did get hurt in the AFC Championship Game, he was playing hurt in the Super Bowl. But to me, he'd be right at that Tier 1 border." A personnel exec added: "He's going to be a 1 very soon. You know what? Yeah, he's a 1. Resilient kid, makes plays, underwhelming receiving corps, smart, athletic. Another year with this coordinator, get some big-play guys, I think he'll be a 1."
