NFL - The Athletic on Brock Purdy

System fit with Shanahan is central to Purdy's tier placement; bottom-end Tier 2.

Multiple voters emphasize Purdy's system fit with Kyle Shanahan as a critical factor in his evaluation. An exec noted: "Solid 2. Deceptive athletically, deceptive strength. He is the one guy who plays bigger than he is, and then obviously he's a good fit with Kyle." A defensive coach cautioned: "Just because of what he has done, you have to give him a 2, but he's like bottom-end Tier 2. It is the system and everything around it that is going to help him. In that system, Jimmy Garoppolo took them to the Super Bowl, but when he went anywhere else, you struggled to say he was a 3." However, voters agree Purdy has surpassed Garoppolo.
