FantasyPros Articles on George Kittle
From the article
Kittle was placed on the active Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he is still recovering from a torn Achilles in the Wild Card game. Although the team is optimistic for a Week 1 return, I'm hesitant to draft Kittle in fantasy. Newly acquired wide receiver Mike Evans should eat into red-zone and end-zone opportunities, areas where he consistently ranked near the top of the league.
STACKED’s take
Kittle's TE9 ADP risky; Achilles recovery uncertain, Evans will steal red-zone work.
Kittle's ADP of 91 (TE9) is inflated despite his historical top-five tight end finishes. While he ranked first in yards per route run, third in targets per route run, and second in receiving yards per game among tight ends with 200+ routes run last season (despite missing five games with a hamstring injury), he is currently on the active Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the Wild Card game. Although the 49ers are optimistic for a Week 1 return, the source is hesitant to draft him. Newly acquired wide receiver Mike Evans will eat into red-zone and end-zone opportunities where he consistently ranked near the top of the league. Additionally, Jake Tonges proved capable as a replacement: in the five games Kittle missed (Weeks 2-6), Tonges ranked fourth in receptions and 10th in receiving yards per game while averaging 6.2 targets per game. With the tight end position being deep and increased competition for touchdown opportunities, Kittle is easier to fade at TE9 than his name value suggests.
