Luke Schoonmaker's time may finally be running out for the Dallas Cowboys. The second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft never really challenged Jake Ferguson for the starting tight end job as was hoped, nor has he shown much improvement thus far in his career.

Schoonmaker on roster bubble in contract year; surpassed by UDFAs on depth chart.

The 2023 second-round pick is on the roster bubble entering his contract year with the Cowboys. Schoonmaker never challenged Jake Ferguson for the starting tight end job as hoped and has shown very little improvement since entering the league. Although he was technically Dallas' TE2 last season with 391 offensive snaps, he has been surpassed on the depth chart by UDFA Brevyn Spann-Ford (300 snaps) and is now third on the depth chart. With Michael Trigg shining in training camp practices, Schoonmaker faces pressure to make the roster, having lost the relative safety his draft status once provided.
