Smith struggled during Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage after a solid start, finishing 12-for-20 for 157 yards and a touchdown. His lone touchdown pass should have been ruled a sack—David Bailey was right there for the sack, and the 36-yard throw was deflected by safety Minkah Fitzpatrick before Isaiah Williams hauled it in. During three red zone series, Smith was sacked twice and the defense dominated. Brian Costello notes this was not Smith's best day, though he has enjoyed a mostly strong training camp overall and Frank Reich praised his leadership and focus on Friday.
