Jefferson was targeted multiple times in team drills as Murray and offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell worked to develop a back-shoulder throw concept. In a red zone drill, the first back-shoulder attempt didn't connect, prompting O'Connell to get involved and coach the play. Murray and Jefferson connected on the same play in a subsequent attempt. However, in team drills later, Murray targeted Jefferson on another back-shoulder throw which Jefferson got a hand on but was unable to catch; it was unclear whether the incompletion was due to Murray's pass placement or Jefferson taking an extra step in his route. Jefferson appeared upset after the play, suggesting he may have felt responsible for the drop.
