Tua Tagovailoa has looked good in training camp and has been very efficient overall. He's typically superior to Penix in the red zone, though Penix has continuously impressed with his deep ball and aggressiveness on deeper targets. Tua's 11-on-11 snaps are more representative of an actual game environment compared to Penix's simulated pass rush situations, which gives him an advantage in the QB competition. The QB competition isn't going to end with the Week 1 starter being named; it's likely to be an ongoing battle. Even if Tua is given the job initially, he'll have to play well to keep the team from going to Penix.
