Evan Tarracciano pegged Dowdle as one of his breakout players at the running back position. Dowdle is the more physically intimidating player accustomed to early-down work and running between the tackles, coming off consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons on two different teams. He is also familiar with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy from his prominent role in Dallas in 2024. While Dowdle isn't the same receiving threat as Jaylen Warren, he is hardly a detriment in that aspect of the game. Tarracciano is happy to take Dowdle at a discount over Warren despite Warren's current draft position advantage.
