From the article

Christian McCaffrey's final numbers last season were befitting of one of the best running backs of this (or any) era: 1,202 rushing yards, 924 receiving yards and 17 total touchdowns. But how he got there was a bit different than usual... His 5.1 yards per touch was the second-worst of his career... His yards per touch has gone down from 6.0 in 2023 to 5.4 in 2024 to 5.1 last season. His 3.9 yards per carry was his worst mark since that injury-shortened 2020 season.

STACKED’s take

Negative signalProjection

McCaffrey's declining efficiency (5.1 YPT, 3.9 YPC) at age 30 with high career touches raises durability concerns.

McCaffrey posted 1,202 rushing yards, 924 receiving yards, and 17 total touchdowns on a league-high 413 touches last season, but his efficiency declined significantly: 5.1 yards per touch (second-worst of his career), 3.9 yards per carry (worst since injury-shortened 2020), and only three 20-yard runs on 311 rushing attempts. His yards per touch has declined from 6.0 in 2023 to 5.4 in 2024 to 5.1 last season. At age 30 with 2,284 career regular-season touches and recent camp absences due to general tightness, the efficiency dip is concerning despite his durability.
