Murray secured Vikings starting role; competition was not between equals

Kyler Murray won the starting job over J.J. McCarthy for Week 1. Brandon Warne notes that Murray showed up 'even semi-prepared/plugged in' to secure the starter role, and the writing was on the wall once Murray was signed. Craig Williams suggests Kevin O'Connell had already decided on Murray prior to training camp. Sam Buegler estimates Murray had approximately 70 percent odds to win the competition versus McCarthy's 30 percent.
