Bennett starts preseason but turnover issues cloud his backup QB competition lead.

Bennett will start Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs in a heated backup QB competition with Ty Simpson behind Matthew Stafford. Bennett has largely worked with the first-string offense during Stafford's absence from training camp, giving him an initial lead in the competition; however, he has struggled with turnovers of late, throwing at least two interceptions in Tuesday's joint practice with Dallas after a reported hot start to camp. The preseason performance will be telling for the competition outcome.
