The source reports that the 49ers are high on Black, whom they took in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft; head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that Black was their No. 2 running back in the draft and has gotten a lot of opportunities this offseason. Run game coordinator Joe Graves praised Black's mentality and burst when hitting the hole, noting 'That was probably the number one thing that attracted us to him was just his mentality when he put his foot in the ground and the burst that he had.' Black is competing for the No. 2 running back role, though currently dealing with an adductor injury that has limited him in training camp.
