Miller's preseason debut shows physicality and confidence for Patriots RB3 role.

Seventh-round rookie made his case for the Patriots' RB3 role in the preseason opener against Indianapolis, totaling 55 yards on 14 carries with a long of 15 yards. Head coach Mike Vrabel praised his physicality and pad level: "he ran with his pads down and had a couple physical runs." Miller described his play style as "aggressive with a little bit of speed." Quarterback Tommy DeVito added confidence in Miller's ability, noting "when we hand him the ball, he lowers his pads. He will lay the boom on somebody. He also has a little shiftiness." The Patriots are searching for a third running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, and Miller has opportunities to separate himself in upcoming joint practices and the second preseason game against Philadelphia.
