Stafford is embracing the mentorship role with rookie quarterback Ty Simpson. Stafford has been providing guidance to Simpson, including advice to 'just be yourself' and 'don't try to be somebody else; just do it your way.' Stafford also told Simpson to 'just go let it rip' when playing in his first NFL game, emphasizing that Simpson should 'go out there and play with the rules, see the play clock, understand what your problems are, and go let it rip.' Stafford will likely not take a preseason snap as Simpson gets significant playing time.
