Smith sidelined with sore ankle in preseason opener; debut pushed to Pittsburgh game

Smith was held out of the Jets preseason opener with a sore ankle for precautionary reasons, per head coach Aaron Glenn. Smith's preseason debut could come the following Friday in Pittsburgh. This comes after Smith had a bad week of practices at training camp, first against his own defense and then against the Buccaneers in joint practices.
