Watson logged his first game snaps since tearing his Achilles in 2024, starting the Browns' preseason opener against Chicago. He completed 11 of 15 passes for 126 yards with one turnover in the first half, including three consecutive completions during a scoring drive to help the offense overcome a tripping penalty and convert a first down. Browns head coach Todd Monken praised his performance, saying 'He was having fun today, and that is so cool. I thought he really functioned at a high level.' Watson is in the final year of a $230 million contract and competing with Shedeur Sanders for the starting job.
