Andy Dalton got the start in the Eagles-Ravens preseason game and played poorly with erratic play that made it tough to judge other players. In the backup quarterback competition, Dalton and Tanner McKee combined for eight drives that generated no points, 77 net yards, two first downs, seven punts, 31 rushing yards, 46 passing yards and no plays longer than 13 yards, with Dalton failing to separate himself from McKee in the battle for the Eagles' backup quarterback job.
