Rookie running back Jonah Coleman impressed Sean Payton in preseason debut with just four carries. Payton praised his 'good balance,' elusive running for his size, and good short-area quickness. Coleman is a compact, powerful runner with burst and short-area quickness; his physical play style and vision could make him a handful for NFL defenses. Payton pulled him after two or three carries, having seen enough evidence of his talent from three weeks of training camp. Coleman looks like a future starter who can run between the tackles and contribute on third downs as a pass blocker and/or pass catcher.
