Eli Stowers started at tight end in the preseason opener, lining up inline and in the slot, catching three short passes; he failed to look dynamic as a receiver but was adequate as a blocker. His role this year will require him to maximize his targets and provide solid run blocking; his unremarkable debut is not a huge red flag given it is his first live NFL snaps and he is playing with non-starters.
