Kirk is dealing with a recurring injury issue that has sidelined him since OTAs; he has not been ready to practice and remains frustrated with the setback. Shanahan stated: 'He had the same thing in OTAs, so he missed that. He hasn't been ready to go. I know he's been extremely frustrated with it.' If Kirk doesn't recover before the season starts, the 49ers will not need to make roster decisions about him.
