Jim Coventry notes that while Patrick Mahomes is one of the all-time legends at quarterback, his fantasy value is another story. Over the last three years, Mahomes has not thrown more than 27 touchdown passes in a season. His fantasy relevance has been sustained by a reliable rushing floor, capped by a career year on the ground last season. However, after tearing his ACL and LCL in Week 15 last season, it would be a stunner if he returned to being a big-time rushing threat this season. This leaves a fantasy quarterback who has not had big passing numbers since 2022. Coventry's bottom line: Mahomes should be outside the top-15 quarterbacks in fantasy for 2026, and someone else should pay the Mahomes name tax in drafts.
