I was really disappointed to see Graham Mertz go down. I know he's a sixth-round QB that ideally won't ever see the field during the regular season, but it would have been nice to get a full preseason look at him in his second year with the Texans. Davis Mills may not be here for much longer, and this season could have been the chance for us to see if Graham Mertz could be his heir apparent, and now that's gone.

Mertz injured in preseason; lost chance to evaluate as Mills' successor.

Graham Mertz, a sixth-round backup quarterback in his second year with the Texans, went down with an injury in preseason. The source was disappointed because this season could have been the chance to evaluate whether Mertz could be Davis Mills' heir apparent, and that opportunity is now gone.
