He completed six of his 10 passes for 87 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, but he was also sacked twice. It was clearly a better performance than Sam Hartman, who completed eight of 15 for 80 yards with an interception. Kaliakmanis finds himself in a battle with Hartman for the third quarterback spot.

Positive signalProjection

Kaliakmanis' solid outing gives him edge over Hartman for third QB spot

Rookie QB had solid preseason outing against Dolphins: 6/10, 87 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 2 sacks. Outperformed Sam Hartman (8/15, 80 yards, 1 INT) in battle for third QB spot. With Marcus Mariota injured and not practicing rest of preseason, Kaliakmanis has great opportunity to win reps and earn job over Hartman. Based on performance against Miami, has good chance to win the competition.
