Rookie quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis quietly had a good outing for the Commanders in their preseason opener against the Dolphins last Friday. He completed six of his 10 passes for 87 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, but he was also sacked twice. It was clearly a better performance than Sam Hartman, who completed eight of 15 for 80 yards with an interception.

Kaliakmanis' solid preseason debut gives him edge over Hartman for QB3.

Kaliakmanis had a solid outing in the preseason opener against Miami, completing six of 10 passes for 87 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, though he was sacked twice. His performance was clearly better than Sam Hartman's (8 of 15, 80 yards, one interception). Based on his performance, the source Mark Bullock believes Kaliakmanis has a good chance to win the third quarterback job over Hartman.
