Metchie was a bright spot in the Panthers' preseason performance, connecting with Kenny Pickett multiple times to move the Panthers into scoring range in the third quarter; he made a risky pickup on a punt and almost fumbled but was ruled down by contact, and the Pickett-to-Metchie connection continued to carry the Panthers down the field with help from Anthony Tyus.
