The Raiders signed Kirk Cousins, a four-time Pro Bowler with more than 44,000 career passing yards, to serve as both a bridge to Fernando Mendoza and a legitimate starting quarterback. Cousins has taken most of the first-team work throughout camp, and the smart money remains firmly on him starting the regular season. However, coach Klint Kubiak declined to officially name him the starter after the preseason win over Houston, instead saying 'We got another week,' leaving the door open for Mendoza despite Cousins remaining the favorite.
