Harris signed to Giants; recovering from Achilles surgery, expected to have offensive role.

Veteran running back signed by the Giants and given snaps in joint practice with the Dolphins but did not play in the preseason game; coming off surgery to repair a torn Achilles suffered Sept. 21 with the Chargers. If healthy, it feels inevitable that Harris will be on the team and have a role on offense. Harris started his NFL career with four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Steelers.
