McCord has clearly outplayed Taylor in preseason competition, posting 24 of 35 (69 percent) for 220 yards (6.3 yards per attempt) over two games with three two-minute drill orchestrations, including two in a single game against Denver. He ranks sixth in the NFL in preseason passing yards and has demonstrated timing on out routes, chain movement, and composure in the pocket, creating a real chance he could be the backup quarterback behind Jordan Love depending on performance against Arizona.
