ArticleDak Prescott Fantasy Football Outlook for 2026: An Under-Appreciated Late-Round...
From the article
Last year the Cowboys ranked second in plays per minute (2.1), while their neutral play clock of 11.81 seconds actually led the league... Prescott actually led the NFL in pass attempts with 20-30 seconds left on the play clock (78)... I don't think having the 32nd-ranked defense or the 15th-ranked defense will change Schottenheimer's tendencies very much. This team is going to rely on the right arm of Prescott.

Cowboys' pace and volume scheme should sustain Prescott's elite attempt share.
The Cowboys ranked second in plays per minute (2.1) and led the league in neutral play clock (11.81 seconds) in 2025. Prescott led the NFL in pass attempts with 20-30 seconds left on the play clock (78), providing both pace and volume on a weekly basis. Dallas' poor defense (2.8 points per drive allowed, 33.3% TD rate) forced the offense to keep its foot on the gas, but Pfeifer expects Schottenheimer's pass-heavy tendencies to persist even with defensive improvements, as the team will continue to rely on Prescott's arm.
