Sanders is the other contender for the starter's role after one of the worst rookie seasons in the past 25 years. His key selling point is that he is not Deshaun Watson. From an on-field perspective, Sanders has not shown enough to be called QB1, but from an off-field perspective he is the call 100 times out of 100. Starting Sanders would finally put to rest excuses about his poor rookie performance, as he will have had several weeks of practice with the first-team offense and all starters in the huddle for Week 1. Even if the Browns open 0-2, there will still be grace given to the team with Sanders as starter.
