Nix underwent January surgery to repair a fractured ankle suffered Jan. 17 in a divisional-round playoff win over the Buffalo Bills and a later cleanup surgery in April for bone spurs. His pocket escape and airborne throw in his Friday preseason debut suggested he is healthy. Payton confirmed after an early-camp practice where Nix threw a 48-yard pass on the run: 'He's 100%. Now it's just more reps at 100%.' Payton added, 'There's nothing where he's going to be more in the pocket or more … no. The throw he made [two weeks ago], early in the week was like, Wow. So he's ready.'
