Barkley's $41M deal reset RB market; he's now 4th-highest paid after three others signed.

When Barkley signed his two-year, $41 million contract in spring 2024, it reset the market for running backs after years of undervaluation. His deal opened the market for other elite running backs: Jahmyr Gibbs signed a three-year, $67.5 million deal with the Lions, Jonathan Taylor got $44 million over two years from the Colts, and Bijan Robinson received $67 million over three years from the Falcons. Barkley dropped from highest-paid running back in NFL history to 4th-highest-paid in the league and expressed satisfaction with the market correction. Barkley said he's still not convinced league-wide running backs are valued the way they should be, noting that even after rushing for 2,000 yards, some GMs don't believe he makes a difference on the team.
