Second-year quarterback named backup to Deshaun Watson for 2026 season. Monken acknowledged Sanders 'closed that gap' during training camp and preseason, crediting his development, but Watson's experience and performance in team evaluations won out. Sanders, 24, started seven games as a rookie in 2025 with a 56.6% completion rate, 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He was added to the AFC Pro Bowl roster as an alternate.
